Honorable Raúl Grijalva
The Honorable Raúl Grijalva currently serves as the United States Representative for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District and has been serving Arizona for more than 40 years. On his way to Congress, Congressman Grijalva served on the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board where an elementary school bears his name as well as the Pima County Board of Supervisors where his leadership led to the creation of the Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan. Congressman Grijalva currently serves as Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus which laid the groundwork for many of today’s popular progressive policies. He is also the Ranking Member of the House Natural Resources Committee which, under his leadership, has expanded the natural resources conversation beyond traditional activist groups to include women’s groups, Latino organizations and Native American tribes. Congressman Grijalva, who serves as elected representative for much of the Arizona’s borderlands, partnered with the Center for Biological Diversity in a federal lawsuit to force federal agencies to conduct an investigation into the environmental impact of the current administration’s proposed border wall. He is the winner of the League of United Latino American Citizens’ Nation Legislative Award in February 2013, the Farmworker Justice Award in 2013, and a Friend of National Parks award.
