Substance Abuse Treatment

Substance Abuse, which refers to alcohol and/or drug abuse, is a serious problem and often leads to losing control of one's own life. It not only affects the person using the substances, but also other members of the family. The effects of substance abuse can be devastating.

Valle del Sol's outpatient treatment is individualized and designed to help adults learn healthy strategies for dealing with the difficulties and stress related to alcoholism and other drug addictions. Participant learn proven ways to avoid substance use. Individual, group and family counseling are some of the methodsa available to assist clients in achieving their goals and living a substance-free life.

Mental Health and Behavioral Health Services, including medication management

Mental Health issues may affect how someone lives his/her life. Dealing with concerns, such as anxiety, trauma, loss, illness and depression can be stressful and often painful. The individualized services are provided by experienced therapists and offer real solutions at every stage of life. Treatment and support helps individuals become self-reliant, confident, responsible, caring and contributing members of society. Individual, group and family counseling are offered to help address mental health concerns. Valle del Sol offers specialt groups that include: a women's group, a group that addresses relationship issues, an art therapy group, and 'mood' groups in English and Spanish, in which participants learn how to handle their different moods in a positive and healthy way.

Co-occuring Mental Health and Behavioral Health Services

For individuals who have co-occuring mental health and substance abuse, an integration of care and services are provided in a treatment plan which addresses both and manages each as  primary concerns.

Opioid Treatment Program

Hopelessness. Lies. Crime. Death. Chaos. Suicide. These are only a few of the words that come to mind when dealing with the disease of chemical dependency. It can all seem so overwhelming. Few, if any, recover in isolation, and you don't have to try. Valle del Sol offers help and hope for heroin and opiate addicts to put their lives back together for the better. If you have an opiate addiction of at least 12 months and are at least 18 years old, Valle del Sol can help through its comprehensive Opiate Addiction Treatment Program. Valle del Sol has an excellent treatment and maintenance program for heroin addicts by using methadone as well as individual and group counseling.

What is methadone?
Methadone is a legally controlled synthetic medication prescribed to treat a heroin addiction. When taken orally in carefully regulated dosages, it relieves withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

What is the role of methadone in treatment?
Simply dispensing methadone to addicts is not an adequate treatment. Valle del Sol has an effective program, which entails a full continuum of services including individual counseling, group counseling, and intensive case management. Treatment for addicts utilizing methadone is a thoroughly studied drug treatment method. Methadone treatment is a tool, which provides time to come to terms with chemical dependency issues and make the significant lifestyle changes necessary for recovery.
