Honorable Regina Romero
Honorable Regina Romero currently serves as Councilwoman for Tucson’s first ward, a position she has held for more than 10 years. She is also the new Director of Latino Engagement for Center for Biological Diversity where she works to develop strategies and tactics to engage the Latino community in the broader conversation of environmental justice. Prior to her election to the city council, Regina worked for Pima County putting hundreds of youth to work every year as the Youth Internship Coordinator, then administering more than $3.5 million in neighborhood infrastructure projects as the Neighborhood Reinvestment Coordinator. Regina is also a co-founder of Las Adelitas, a political action committee that encourages Latinas in Arizona to participate in the political process and support progressive issues. She has received numerous awards including the 1st Annual Women of Courage award for Courageous Conversations presented by National Organization for Women; the League of United Latin American Citizens / Federal Bureau of Investigation Community Service Award in 2014; and a 40 Under 40 award presented by Arizona Daily Star and Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
