Taking Action is in Our Roots

Valle del Sol was founded in 1977 by a group of Latino activists. From supporting Latinos returning from Vietnam with substance use disorders to supporting day labor centers during MCSO raids to serving as the lead plaintiff in the Supreme Court challenge to SB1070, we understand that we have a responsibility to represent community health in the broadest spectrum possible.

Access to quality healthcare and mental health services means ensuring our patients and community have access to more than just in clinic care. It means our community needs access to educational opportunities, employment, housing, transportation and all of the social determinants that impact one’s ability to live a fulfilling, quality life.

Valle del Sol believes public policy influences these social issues directly and will, when necessary, provide voice and guidance at the federal, state and municipal level.
