Dear Friends,

As a valued friend and partner to Valle del Sol, we want to share with you exciting news about our executive leadership.

After eight years as President & CEO, Kurt Sheppard is retiring. The Board of Directors implemented a succession plan two years ago to ensure continuity of leadership. Valle del Sol’s current Chief of Operations, Carmen Heredia, LMSW, CPHQ will become the new Chief Executive Officer. For thirteen years, Carmen has successfully held various leadership positions at Valle del Sol and is uniquely prepared to serve in the agency’s highest leadership role.

The decision to promote from within the agency was a logical step for the stability of the agency’s business. With the ever-changing health care system and unpredictable political landscape, Carmen is a qualified and competent leader to navigate Valle del Sol based on her in-depth knowledge and understanding of agency operations and managed healthcare.

By promoting Carmen, the board of directors affirmed a history of growing leadership internally and promoting from within its ranks.  The current leadership team remains committed to providing Valle del Sol’s patients with the quality of care they have come to expect from our programs and services. Further, the diversity this team offers will provide strong support during this time of transition. We look forward to working closely with Carmen as we begin a new chapter for the agency and we thank Kurt for his 20 years of service to Valle del Sol and our patients.
