Community Health Centers: The Chemistry for Strong Communities

National Health Center Week is a week for us to come together to celebrate our accomplishments throughout the year and to showcase the different ways in which we help our communities thrive and stay healthy.

Valle del Sol, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is part of a larger network of health centers. Collectively, there are nearly 1,400 health centers with over 13,500 delivery sites in the United States, U.S. territory, and the District of Columbia. And in 2020 nearly 29 million patients were served by more than 255,000 full-time staff at health centers.

The Community Health Center movement started more than 55 years ago. Our service is centered around providing affordable, accessible, quality and value-based primary health care regardless of the person’s ability to pay. As we continue to serve one in 11 people across the country, health centers lead the nation in quality improvement and in reducing health care costs for our patients. Today, Valle del Sol joins the celebration to help raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of health centers over the past five decades.
